Would there be baseline well and water testing to ensure they are returned to us in the same state as when you started!?
Would the company's be putting up a bond for the cleaning up to ensure timely environmentally sound cleanup?
Who would responsible for the cost of restorative work on Wells and water when/if they're poisoned?
Who will be monitoring the cleanup I assume by a subcontracted co.?
What would be the cleanup timelines?
Remember kennecook and Kimm Summers who had to fight for cleanup with Elmworth Energy for years before proper disposal to New Brunswick was completed and that was just one well!
Has there been an environmental impact study done with the results for the public?
What about test sites for offshore earthquakes as you woukdbe drilling into shale substrate & perhaps the acquifer!!
Where would you be putting the wastewater with the heavy metals and forever chemicals?
Where would you be getting the fresh waters for your fracking.. from 6&8 miles pristine rivers?
Will you be taking care of the road infrastructure related to the enormous truck traffic 8 to 10 hours daily or more!
Is it true you need to drill many wells and frack them before you even see gas?
What heavy metals forever chemicals will you be pressure shooting into Mother's Earth's Crust so we may medically treat people?
Are you able to confirm there are now only 2 companies vs. 7 looking to frack our NS
1. East coast energy inc. & Heritage Gas or "Eastward Energy"
Can you confirm recent fracking practices haven't changed, or the chemicals used because of climate degradation for one thing...I doubt the right legislation and oversight will be put in place. There doesn't seem to be any new safe fracking chemicals being used. There is no guarantee that people won't lose their well water. There is no new way to dispose of the fracking waste.
No
FINALLY ..Some notes to our taxpayers:
"Eastward Energy or Heritage Gas keeps a special debt record approved by the (NSEB) govt to recover money that they lost during their early years of operation"?..AND
As of 2023, Eastward had not fully matured, meaning they hadn't fully recovered their initial operating costs so in 2024, the board approved a specific charge (roughly $1/GJ) to be added to customer bills between 2025 and 2026 to pay down the $50 million debt!..
ALSO: THIS IS A DID YA KNOW:
The property in question in Marshdale of 140 acres for the proposed marshdale methane gas plant belongs to Elmer Mackay, a former progressive conservative cabinet minister under Brian Mulroney and father of Peter Mackay former MP & Tim Houston's best buddy.. they both supported & endorsed Tim in 2018
THEN... In contrast, the other 30 acres is the IESO (independent energy system operator) who have signed options to purchase or lease this land with the potential for the private developer to assume ownership.
The Salt Spring one is on land parcels belonging to SM Gammon & Son, Atlantic Star (a subsidiary of U.S. Wagner Forest Management the U.S. firm that bought half of Scott Paper’s million acres in 2006), and Brian Coady Forestry.
Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston is also actively pursuing plans to sell future offshore wind turbine power to the United States, specifically through a Wind West initiative aimed at creating a 60-billion dollar offshore wind industry.
However, If he DIDN'T do this:
He Could Lower Domestic Power Rates: Retaining the power for domestic consumption to lower our light bills for both households AND local businesses, which could increase disposable income.
He could Generate revenue through a 4% royalty on the gross revenue from offshore wind energy projects focused on serving local needs, rather than focusing solely on foreign exports.
He would Decarbonize Local Industry by Utilizing renewable energy locally to lower industrial operating costs, & this COULD attract large-scale industries looking to meet environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals.
